Our agency is the largest law enforcement agency in the county, and provides both police and fire protection for the City of Charleston. In addition, we provide fire protection to the northern half of Mississippi County and the southern part of Scott County, under contract with the Scott Mississippi County Rural Fire District. We also provide 911 services for the north half of Mississippi County and provide dispatch services for the Mississippi County Rescue Squad, the Mississippi County Emergency Management Agency, the Bertrand Volunteer Fire Department and the Wyatt Volunteer Fire Department.
In 2015, the Charleston DPS answered 7414 calls for service, and operated on a combined budget of $1.27 million dollars.
