Press Release - Impaired Driver Checkpoint Results - 08/14/2013

On August 10th, the Charleston DPS and the Bertrand Police Department conducted an impaired driver checkpoint on US Hwy 62 in Bertrand. Both agencies are members of the Southeast Missouri DWI Taskforce, and officers from other member agencies assisted in the event. Approximately 30 officers participated. Agencies represented were the Bertrand PD, Charleston DPS, MO State Highway Patrol, Caruthersville PD, Hayti PD, Kennett PD, Dexter PD, Parma PD and the Cape Girardeau PD. Member agencies are committed to reducing alcohol related traffic crashes and promoting traffic safety. During the checkpoint, officers checked a total of 241 vehicles, and issued 23 citations.  Arrests were made, or citations issued, for the following offenses:

DWI – 2

Seat Belt – 4

Child Restraint – 3

No Drivers License – 1

No Insurance – 8

Traffic Control Device Violations – 1

Driving While Revoked – 3

Possession of Marijuana – 2

Open container – 1

Warrant Arrest - 1
