PRESS RELEASE - STOLEN GUNS RECOVERED - 02/06/2015
On January 29th at about 1215, our agency was notified of a burglary in progress at 602 Naomi St. Officers quickly located two suspects, one adult and one juvenile. The adult, identified as Kibrandon Coleman, 18 of Charleston was taken into custody without incident. The juvenile, a 16 year old male from Charleston, fled on foot. Two MO State Highway Patrol troopers were in town and assisted local officers with setting up a perimeter. The juvenile was taken into custody a short time later. The investigation continued into the night and resulted in the additional arrest of a 13 year old Charleston male for burglary, and the recovery of 3 stolen guns.
On the morning of January 30th, officers served two search warrants, and conducted consent searches on four other residences. During the course of the day, 9 stolen guns were recovered, as well as electronics and a set of tires and rims reported stolen in the City of Sikeston. Two adults were charged with burglary. They are identified as Myron Andrews, 18 and Marquelis Andres, 18, both of Charleston. Three juveniles were also taken into custody. All from Charleston, they are two 16 year old males and a 14 year old male.
On February 1st, officers continued following leads and recovered 2 more stolen guns. On February 2nd, the SEMO Drug Task Force assisted Charleston DPS officers and 3 stolen guns were located. As of this writing, a total of 14 stolen guns have been recovered. Most of the guns and other property has been returned to the rightful owner. The juveniles taken into custody have all been charged with burglary and theft related charges. The adults are charged as follows:
COLEMAN, Kibrandon, 18 of Charleston – Burglary 1st – he is currently being held in jail on a $50,000 bond.
ANDREWS, Myron, 18 of Charleston – Burglary 1st, Stealing – he is currently being held in jail on a $50,000 bond.
ANDREWS, Marquelis, 18 of Charleston – Burglary 1st, Stealing – he is currently being held in jail on a $50,000 bond.
This investigation is ongoing, and more charges are expected.
