PRESS RELEASE - GUN AND DRUG ARRESTS - 03/16/2015
On March 14th at about 12:30am, an officer heard gun shots near his location. While investigating, a vehicle was observed leaving the area at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped near the intersection of Lee and Marshall Streets. During a search of the vehicle, spend ammunition and drugs were found. It is believed that a person was firing a handgun from the sun roof of the vehicle before it was stopped. The driver of the vehicle, Demarcus Turner, 22 of Charleston was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon, possession of marijuana and driving while suspended. He is currently being held in the Mississippi County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
On March 14th at about 4:45pm, an officer was advised of suspicious activity of the parking lot Casey’s General Store on South Main Street. An officer observed the suspect vehicle and made a vehicle stop near Tom Brown Street near Main. The suspect stopped, then rammed the patrol car and fled on foot. The suspect was caught a short time later. Corian Greer, 25 of Sikeston was arrested and charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm by a felon, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana. He is currently being held in the Mississippi County Jail on $200,000 bond.
